With the 60-55 setback tonight, Michigan fell to 12-3 on the season. The Wolverines now hold a 4-3 mark overall in true road games this season.
Tonight's matchup was the 76th meeting between Michigan and Michigan State. The Wolverines now hold an 18-58 all-time record in the series. Michigan's last win against the Spartans came on Jan. 13, 2008 (64-55).
U-M extended its three-point shooting streak to 173 consecutive games. The last time Michigan did not hit a three-pointer was during the 2005-2006 season.
Michigan held a 27-24 halftime lead in tonight's game. The Maize and Blue dropped to 11-1 this season in games it led at halftime.
With the loss, Kevin Borseth moved to 1-12 all-time vs. Michigan State. Borseth earned his first win vs. the Spartans on Jan. 13, 2008 (64-55) in his first game coaching against Michigan State.
Rachel Sheffer led the Wolverines with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-5 from the three-point line. Sheffer has scored in double figures in 11 of 15 games this season, including each of the last six.
Nya Jordan had a team high with four assists, and Jenny Ryan contributed three assists for the Wolverines.
U-M's defense forced Michigan State into 18 turnovers, leading to 13 points.
Michigan's reserves scored 16 points in tonight's game with contributions from five bench players: Kate Thompson (6), Sam Arnold (4), Nya Jordan (2), Kendra Seto (2) and Brenae Harris (2).
For the 15th straight game -- every game this season -- Michigan went with the starting lineup of Courtney Boylan, Nicole Elmblad, Jenny Ryan, Carmen Reynolds and Rachel Sheffer.
