
Team, Four Individuals Receive CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 2010-11 University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team received Scholar All-America Team honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Wednesday (July 20), with three student-athletes earning Scholar All-America honors and an additional one receiving Honorable Mention Scholar All-America recognition.
Seniors Caitlin Dauw (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and Alexa Mehesan (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) and junior Deirdre Jones (Nashville, Tenn./University School of Nashville) each received CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades. All recipients of the award must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better and reach the NCAA Championships. Mehesan is a repeat recipient of the honor, while Dauw and Jones were both honorable mentions last season.
Junior Melissa Lang (Edison, N.J./Bishop George) received the Honorable Mention Scholar All-America award, having earned a GPA of 3.5 or better and achieved an NCAA "B" time standard but not qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
The Scholar All-America Team award goes to programs with a team cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
