ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics freshman Sam Mikulak (Corona del Mar, Calif./ Corona del Mar) was awarded Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his exceptional performance at Arizona State on Wednesday (March 2). This marks the second week in a row and the third time this season that Mikulak has brought home this honor.

Sam led the Wolverines to a season-high team score (353.400) in the victory at Arizona State, taking two event titles with personal-best scores on floor exercise (15.10) and vault (16.60). He also took third place on both pommel horse and high bar with a 14.30 and 14.45, respectively. His 16.60 score on vault is the second-highest posted in the NCAA at this point in the season.

This No. 6-ranked Wolverines take on the top-seeded Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday (March 12) at 2 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena.
