ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics senior Thomas Kelley (Libertyville, Ill./ Libertyville) was awarded Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for his performance Saturday (March 12) against the second-ranked Oklahoma Sooners. This is the first Gymnast of the Week award for the Wolverines in the 2011 season. Michigan's last award winner was Mel Anton Santander (2007-10) nearly a year ago during the 2010 season.
In the competition against Oklahoma, Kelley posted four top-five event finishes, including first place in high bar as he tied his season-high score (15.35); third on floor exercise (14.65), fourth on still rings (14.75) and fifth on parallel bars (14.70). He also took second place in the all-around, scoring an 87.35 and helping the Wolverines post their highest team score of the season.
The No. 6-ranked Wolverines compete at home this Saturday (March 19) against Big Ten rival Ohio State at 7 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena.
