N O T E S
The distance medley relay team posted an NCAA automatic time (11:04.26), the first automatic mark U-M has hit in 2011.
Michigan ran the distance medley relay for the first time this season. The DMR is a relay that consists of a 1,200-meter leg, a 400-meter leg, an 800-meter leg and a mile leg in that order. The Wolverines have won seven consecutive Big Ten titles in the DMR.
Rebecca Addison (800), Jillian Smith (mile) and Danielle Tauro (1,200) all ran on the DMR last year. Smith and Tauro flipped positions, with Tauro now running the 1,200-meter leg to start and Smith taking over the mile leg. Alisha Cole joins the relay for the first time in her career, taking over the 400.
Taylor Pogue won her third event of the year. She won the mile at the EMU Invitational, the 3,000-meter run against Ohio State and tonight's 5,000-meter run.
It was the first time this season the Wolverines competed in the 5,000-meter run.
Julian Purvis (8.46) and Amber Smith (8.71) both qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 60-meter hurdles.
