Today's game was the 72nd meeting between the Wolverines and Spartans. Michigan State now has a 54-18 series advantage, with U-M's last victory coming on Jan. 13, 2008.
Michigan is 12-42 in the Kevin Borseth era when allowing an opponent to score 60 or more points. U-M has allowed three of its last five opponents to reach 60 points and is 3-2 in that span.
U-M extended its three-point shooting streak to 152 consecutive games. Michigan has not been without at least one three-pointer in the Kevin Borseth era.
Michigan moved to 1-9 when the rebounding margin is greater than 10.
Senior guard Veronica Hicks picked up her 1,000th career point at the 19:12 mark. Hicks is the 21st Wolverine to reach the 1,000-point plateau and is the third Wolverine to reach the mark under Kevin Borseth's watch. Hicks now has 1,005 career points.
Michigan played its ninth ranked opponent this season. U-M is 4-5 against ranked opponents.
U-M moves to 4-5 in televised games this season and moves to 3-2 in Big Ten games televised.
Today's ESPN game is U-M's first appearance on ESPN since the 2000-01 season when the Wolverines defeated Penn State, 75-74. Coincidentally, play-by-play announcer Pam Ward called that game as well as today's game.
