The Wolverines are in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to take part in the Paradise Jam (Thu-Sat., Nov. 24-26). Director of operations Raina Harmon will provide a daily blog to give fans the inside scoop, as the Wolverines play in paradise.
Day 3 was all business as we prepared for our game tonight. We had a late breakfast then the team sat out by the pool chatting with their parents until it was time to watch film. Directly after film, we headed to our shootaround, which was an adventurous ride to say the least. On our buses, some of the rows were without a barrier to keep our bags, or us, from falling out.
As we headed to the gym for shootaround, we made a sharp left and there went Nya's book bag flying off the bus and into the bushes. Good thing we were coming to a halt because I think she was going to hop off the bus whether it was moving or not. After we returned to the hotel, we had a pregame meal (which did include turkey, after all it is Thanksgiving).
When we arrived at the University of Virgin Islands for our game, we had a chance to watch the end of the Louisiana Tech vs. Seton Hall game which went down to the wire with Seton Hall claiming the victory. After 40 minutes of battling with Prairie View A&M, we escaped with a "W." We would like to have played (and shot) better, but there wasn't much time to dwell as we play in less than 24 hours.
After a quick talk with Coach Borseth, the team watched the first half of Marquette vs. Washington State game which started after our game. At halftime of the game, we headed back to the hotel to grab dinner, shower, and go to bed, while the coaches stayed back and scouted our upcoming opponents.
On the way back to the hotel, the girls serenaded the bus driver with their rendition "All My Life" by Jodeci. I must say, they would make GREAT contestants on the "Sing-Off."
Alright, well, it's time to turn it in. I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving, and you'll be getting an update on Day 4 tomorrow.
