Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the overall series ... "I think that whatever has happened in the past doesn't really matter now, but we take a lot of pride in playing at home. We take pride in all of our games, but Yost (Ice Arena) has been a special place and to give up back-to-back games to anybody is a big disappointment. To win these games you have got to play better, whether it is penalty killing, goalkeeping, special teams, defensive zone breakdowns and so on. We have got a lot of work to do. I can't say we got exposed, but we definitely broke down in places tonight and we gave up goals too easily."
On special teams play ... "You want to win the special teams battle, but there is no way you are going to win it if you are giving up those goals on the PK. I thought we were having a good game until that five-minute major. In fact, all the way through that five-minute major, until 1:30 left and we were doing well and they really hadn't had a scoring chance. We miss cleared a puck and they turned it over, and bang, goal. Then the next shift and all of the sudden they scored two goals on that major and that was huge. We had to battle back from that and we did. It was just too little, too late."
On the positives to take away from this weekend ... "I thought we had some players step up tonight, and good for them. Luke Moffatt is a better player than he has shown. (Alex) Guptill is coming off of a not-so-good game last night, and he provided some important goals. Derek DeBlois scored a shorthanded goal, which got us back in the game. We had a lot of bounce-back in our team, but we just couldn't quite finish it."
U-M Senior Forward Luke Glendening
On how important the penalties were in tonight's game ... "Obviously our PK has been pretty good as of late, but tonight we weren't great. If we're going to take penalties we have to be able to kill them and tonight we couldn't, so that was a big factor."
On the scoring from all four offensive lines ... "It's encouraging, but it's still not enough. At the end of the game when you see a 6-5 score it doesn't matter who scored. It is good to see guys scoring from all four lines, but it is definitely frustrating still."
On how to get the team back on track ... "I think it just starts with our confidence. I think we as a team need to pull together and work on some defensive zone things. But we also need to have confidence in ourselves that we're going to be okay, we'll come back."
