Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "We did not know a lot about Bentley, but I knew they would keep the game close and that they would be a close checking team and be opportunistic and they were. Even though I thought we had the edge in play in the first period, they got the goal they needed on the power play and then hung on there until we finally got a goal in the second period. It was a close game right down until maybe the seven-minute mark of the third period when we got that third goal when it was anyone's game. Give them marks, they came in here and played a good game. We could not do anything about it, I thought we got sloppy in the second period, we got better in the third period and we got refocused. I thought we had our best period in the third."
On U-M building momentum off scoring bunches ... "College hockey is all about momentum, if you can get something going. That is the thing about Yost Ice Arena and playing at Michigan, if we can get something going and the crowd gets into it and then the players get into it, there just seems to be another level. It can intimidate another opponent and then the game changes and you can take over a game. We have seen that in the past and I hope we see more of it."
On overall play of U-M defensemen ... "I thought the defense had their moments. They had the puck a lot. We (our defensemen) had the puck a lot. I think we started thinking too much about offense and then defensively we had to scramble to get back on more than one occasion. They held up alright and it did not cost us, but the game was closer then the score."
U-M Senior Forward David Wohlberg
On his power-play goal from the point ... "Tonight was basically coming in on a wide angle and taking a shot, and I think I did it a couple of games ago too. It is a totally different shot than being a forward, but we practice it so it is not too bad."
On playing the center position ... "I like taking faceoffs, so that I really enjoyed. Being down low is a different aspect of the game. Tonight I tried to focus more on helping out the D and engaging down low and playing wing I let the D get the puck. I think it is just a different mindset, and really one any player can adjust to."
U-M Senior Defensemen Greg Pateryn
On momentum from scoring goals ... "It is just keeping it simple, and just getting pucks to the net and somehow it will happen. It just always turns out that something good is going to happen every once in awhile. Look at Luke Glendening's goal, it was just a turnaround shot again and throwing pucks at the net, he gets a stick on it and it goes in the net. It is just simple things like that; if you try to do too much you find yourselves turning the puck over. Keep it simple and good things happen."
On Bentley's overall team speed ... "We knew they were going to come out with a lot of momentum and a lot of speed. That is something we have to adjust to and something we adjusted to in the game, just keeping it simple and making the easy plays up the wall. If they are coming hard, you do not have time to stickhandle the puck. You have to get it up. In the first period we were a little on our heels, but then toward the second and third we really turned it over and started playing better."
