ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head women's tennis coach Ronni Bernstein announced today (Monday, Sept. 13) that Teryn Ashley-Fitch has been promoted to associate head coach. Ashley-Fitch is entering her fifth year with the Wolverines.
"Teryn is such a big part of our program and what we do here at Michigan," Bernstein said. "She makes my job so easy because we have a very similar coaching style. I know that the girls are always learning and getting better when they are on the court with her. Teryn is a huge reason our team has been so successful, and I feel extremely fortunate that I get to work with her every day. It just seemed right to promote her after the great season we had in 2010."
Ashley-Fitch was named the 2010 ITA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year after helping Michigan to its first Big Ten championship since 1997 and the most wins in program history (24) last season. Since arriving in Ann Arbor in 2006, the Wolverines have compiled a 78-26 record and 36-4 Big Ten mark with Ashley-Fitch on the sidelines.
Michigan kicks off the fall campaign, Sept. 24-26, at the Miami Fall Tournament in Coral Gables, Fla.
