ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan water polo head coach Matt Anderson announced on Thursday (April 22) the addition of utility Hathaway Moore (Atherton, Calif./Saint Francis) to the 2011 water polo freshman class. Moore signed a National Letter of Intent during the late signing period.

"Getting Hathaway Moore completes a recruiting class that I am very happy with. It was one of those things where we had to wait a while for it to happen and you wonder if it was going to work out," Anderson said. "It did work out and she is going to be able to bring her athleticism, her size, her speed and her quality of play in big games to Michigan and I am looking forward to it."

Moore, a two-time Central Coast Section and San Jose Mercury News first team selection, led Saint Francis to CCS championships in 2008 and 2009. She earned NISCA All America and USA Water Polo All-Academic distinctions and was selected as a 2010 CCS Scholar-Athlete Scholarship award honoree. She is also a member of the Pacific Zone Olympic Development Program.

Hathaway will join a 2011 recruiting class that features two-meter Lauren Dudley (Okemos/Okemos, Mich.), attacker Kelsey Nolan (Leland/San Jose, Calif.) and driver Audrey Pratt (Burlingame/San Mateo, Calif.).

"Out of this class, we signed four players with the local, Lauren Dudley, joining a strong Northern California group. We have three players from NorCal who have played extensively together with ODP and USA Water Polo," Anderson said. "I am looking forward to how they are going to work together immediately as college freshmen having already played numerous games together as high schoolers."

No. 7-ranked Michigan will host the CWPA Western Division Championship on Saturday (April 24) in hopes of securing the program's ninth straight division title.
