NCAA Tournament Notes
• Michigan's all-time NCAA Tournament record now stands at 47-25. Coach Red Berenson is 26-19. During U-M's 20-year streak of NCAA Tournament appearances it has notched at least one win in 16 tournaments.
Bemidji State Series Notes
• Tonight was the first meeting in program history against Bemidji State.
• U-M has a 7-1-0 overall record against CHA schools, including a 2-0 mark in NCAA Tournament play. U-M beat Niagara in the first round of the 2008 national playoffs.
Team Notables
• Tonight's triumph marked the seventh consecutive win for Michigan, which is the team's longest winning streak since a nine-game streak that lasted from Dec. 1, 2007, through Jan. 19, 2008.
• Michigan has scored first in nine straight games and 27 times in 44 contests this season. U-M is 23-4-0 when scoring first.
• The Wolverines potted three goals in a period for the 18th time this season. U-M struck thrice in the third period tonight.
• Michigan has scored 33 goals in seven playoff games this season, registering at least five goals in six of the games.
• Red Berenson earned the 699th win of his career tonight. He is currently sixth on the all-time coaching wins list, 45 victories behind fifth-place Bob Peters (North Dakota, Bemidji State).
Player Notables
• Seven Wolverines recorded the first points of their career in the NCAA Tournament: senior defenseman Steve Kampfer, senior left wing Brian Lebler, junior center Louie Caporusso, junior defenseman Chad Langlais, sophomore forward Luke Glendening, and freshman right wingers Chris Brown and Kevin Lynch.
• Louie Caporusso scored his eighth goal of the 2010 playoffs and third in the last two games. He has 8-4-12 totals in seven games. Three of his goals are game winners, including tonight's tally.
• Junior left wing Carl Hagelin leads all active Wolverines in NCAA Tournament goals (3) and points (5).
• Hagelin potted two goals on the national stage tonight for his sixth career multi-goal game. His shorthanded tally was the second of his season, matching a single-season career high, and puts him tied atop the team in shorties.
• Hagelin added an assist on the empty-netter to record three points in the win, extending his point streak to six games (5-6-11). He has now recorded a point in 17 of the last 18 games with 7-16-23 totals.
• Luke Glendening scored his career-best seventh goal of the season. The sophomore had six tallies as a rookie last season.
• Steve Kampfer has an assist in three straight games, posting four helpers during the streak to equal a career best. Kampfer earned his 20th assist of the season with his helper tonight and hit the 50-assist career benchmark.
• Matt Rust recorded two assists in the game for his seventh career multi-assist game. He has 1-3-4 totals in four NCAA Tournament games.
• Goaltender Shawn Hunwick notched his seventh straight win, making 26 saves in the effort. Since taking over for Bryan Hogan on Feb. 25, Hunwick has posted an 8-1-0 record.
• Brian Lebler scored an empty-netter and registered an assist to earn his eighth multi-point contest.
