Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the game ... "I thought it was a great event that Wisconsin put on. These outdoor are truly classics. Its a great experience for all the players, coaches, fans and so on. As far as the game, the weather was perfect. I liked our team. We came back from a 1-0 deficit on Scooter's [Vaughan] goal and went ahead in the third period on [Kevin] Lynch's goal. If it weren't for the penalties that happened in the last five minutes we'd be sitting here talking about a victory. But that didn't happen. We couldn't kill their power play."
On earning momentum when U-M took a 2-1 lead ... "I thought we played well in the second period and I thought we played well in the third period. It was a man's game. Both teams played hard, it was a battle. There was a lot of shinny. The ice wasn't great; as the game wore on it deteriorated. But the players got through it. It was hard to score goals, it was a battle to score goals. Both teams had chances. Both goalies played well. I thought we had the momentum when we took that lead."
U-M Junior Forward Scooter Vaughan
On the atmosphere of the game ... "Playing at Yost Arena we have a great atmosphere there, so coming in here it was nice playing outside and it was a great atmosphere here with the fans. It was a great event put on. We practiced here yesterday so we were ready for the game. It was all business when we stepped on the ice."
On scoring his goal ... "It was a good goal. Our line cycled the puck well with [Lindsay] Sparks and [Ben] Winnett. Winnett made a great pass out to me in front and the goalie made the first save. On the second one, I was there and the net was open. It was a good goal by our line to help out."
On his thoughts about the weather as a California native ... "I've been at Michigan for the last three years so I'm pretty used to it, but it was nice playing outside. A different change of pace."
U-M Freshman Forward Kevin Lynch
On the atmosphere of the game ... "Obviously when you walk on the ice you look up and you see how many people are there and you're like, 'Okay, wow.' But once you get on the ice that goes away and you put it behind you and play."
On his goal ... "Obviously the ice wasn't too good so just getting shots on net was our focus. Off the faceoff, I lost the draw, but it went to Carl [Hagelin] and he gave it to me. I just kind of held onto it, got across the blue line, and just let one go and it went in."
