Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "How can the best scorer [Mark Olver] in the league miss a shot like that? He might have been in an awkward position. Our team was all over the map tonight. You saw the worst and best of our team and sadly the worst came out in the third period. Up until then I thought we were having a pretty good game. We came back after giving up the first goal and got back in the game. We had the lead going into the third and gave up two goals just on poor plays on our part. Give them credit for capitalizing on it. Then we came back with two good plays: the power play goal and then what we call a roll down goal on Greg Pateryn's part. A roll down goal is a face-off play and it's good to see that work out and it was a huge goal for us. Then we were on our heels the rest of the game. It was sad because we couldn't get the puck out of our zone. They had some glorious chances."
On momentum shifts in the game ... "We have been a team that struggles to come back when we get on the wrong side of the score. Coming back was a good sign tonight. Giving up those quick goals in the third period was hurtful. Those are things you can correct. Those are our turnovers, our mistakes. Now it was an exciting game and a good game for the University of Michigan. We saw a lot of good things."
On the successful power play ... "It was great. We haven't been consistent on the power play and yet our numbers tell us that we are decent on the power play. Really, the timing of when you score on the power play is huge. Maybe last night's power plays weren't as important early in the game, but they could have decided the game. Tonight, the power play was a big factor in us coming back and winning the game."
U-M Sophomore Defensemen Greg Pateryn
On scoring his first career goal ... "It's obviously a good feeling. I don't think it has hit me yet. Even though I scored a goal I think there are a lot of things that I need to do better defensively in the zone. Being minus two tonight is not a good thing."
On defensive play ... "You always need to make sure you're playing strong defensively. A couple times we were going back to the puck and they got good chances. We were doing things right. We were getting the puck off the glass and out of the zone. Just doing the simple things, especially when we're up like that. If you do the simple things right good things will happen for you."
U-M Junior Center Louie Caporusso
On Luke Glendening's goal ... "I think [Luke] Glendening's goal is the type of goal that coach wants to see. I think it was a game changer and the monkey off our backs. I think we were a little sluggish on Friday so Glendening's goal was a good goal for us. Those are the types of goals we want to see -- hard nose to the net. At the same time we should be doing more and I don't think there is enough of that going on right now."
On Northern Michigan's defensive zone coverage ... "I still feel like I had 20 shots, blocked today. I see that I only had two shots on net but I feel like I took 15. I think sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn't. [Brian] Lebler's pass was unbelievable. That was a great pass and Chad [Langlais] did a great job finishing it. It takes two people to do that."
On the comeback win ... "We haven't come back from many games this year. When you're up a goal in the third period and then let a goal in is tough. But then we battled back and the result was good."
