ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's gymnastics team has earned a No. 2 ranking in the GymInfo Coaches Preseason Poll. While both Michigan and Stanford received seven first-place votes, Stanford was awarded the top ranking. Third-ranked Oklahoma received two first-place votes.
The Wolverines were ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll last season; however, they went on to win the 2010 national championship, marking the first NCAA title for the program since 1999 and the fourth in team history.
For the second straight year, all six Big Ten teams are ranked among the nation's top 10 -- Michigan (2nd), Illinois (4th), Ohio State (6th), Penn State (7th), Minnesota (8th) and Iowa (10th).
U-M will host the Maize and Blue Intrasquad on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena. Michigan will officially start the season at the 40th annual Windy City Invitational on Jan. 15 in Chicago, Ill.
