FRIDAY, MARCH 27 -- Road Warriors
I can't believe it has already been a week since I wrote my last blog. Time really has been flying by lately, which I'm not too excited about. I want these last weeks of my college experience to last forever, but with each passing week I'm reminded that time stops for no one. However, I have been enjoying this last semester to the fullest and that really is all that I can ask of myself.
Our schedule this season has had our team on the road much more than in my past three years. I honestly am starting to truly understand the term "road warrior". I'm now on a first-name basis with the people that work security at the airport. They are really nice if you give them a chance. But seriously, it really is challenging for me and the guys. We have to do a lot of our work on planes, buses and in hotels. Also, I have realized how much I miss my own bed when I'm always sleeping in hotel rooms. I'm convinced that I receive a different level of sleep when I'm in my own bed. The guys have been really handling it well though, and I'm proud of the toughness that they have shown. We know that this is part of the deal and that every team has to deal with it too.
I'm very excited that the major league baseball season is rapidly approaching. Personally, I'm a huge Detroit Tigers fan and I can't wait to get down to Comerica Park to watch some games. There's something about spending a day at the park that just epitomizes summer to me. I just enjoy the whole experience from the first pitch to the last out. Hopefully the Tigers will do much better this year and be in playoff contention.
I would like to wish my brother a Happy Birthday. Ryan is one of the few loyal readers of this blog and he turned 30 years old earlier this week. Hopefully he is not feeling too old, but three decades is a long time to have been alive. But, in all seriousness, he has been a huge part of my life. I know that I would not be where I am today without all his support and guidance over the years. Having an older brother set an example for me like he has always pushed me to be the best I can be. I hope he had a wonderful birthday and has many, many more to come.
Thanks for reading. The team will finally be playing at home again next weekend, so be sure to clear your schedules. Have a great weekend and Go Blue!
