
Pendleton Wins Discus at Rod McCravy Memorial

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Sophomore Emily Pendleton(Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) of the No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team took top honors in the discus to lead the U-M throwers Friday and Saturday (Feb. 6-7) at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Kentucky's Nutter Field House.
Pendleton earned first place in the discus on Friday with a top throw of 52.47m (172-2). Pendleton's winning throw was one of three she had that measured over 50 meters; Pendleton was the only competitor to break the 50-meter barrier.
Both Pendleton and junior/sophomore Ashley Greer (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) posted season-best efforts in the weight throw. Pendleton recorded a top toss of 16.65m to finish 11th and Greer's best attempt of 16.55m was good enough for 13th.
Michigan will return to action next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 13-14) when it travels to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
