THURSDAY, FEB.26 -- Greetings from Miami!
Hello from Miami! The weather here is unbelievable. It has been 80 degrees and sunny every day, just the way I like it! Today we play the University of Miami, now ranked No. 10 nationally, and I am pumped! We lost a 6-1 match here last year, but it was a lot closer than what the score indicated. We had early leads in two of the doubles matches that we let slip away and we lost a couple of singles matches in third-set tiebreakers. I think we are better prepared for the Hurricanes this year because we played a practice match against Florida International on Tuesday, we had more days to practice outside and our team is more experienced. We know that today's match is going to be tough, so we're all going to need to come out fired up and ready to compete.
We've also found some time for fun outside of tennis! Tuesday night, the team went to Bayside Marketplace where we ate at the Hard Rock Caf. After dinner, we all walked to the American Airlines Arena for the Miami Heat-Detroit Pistons basketball game. When we initially entered the arena to pick up our tickets, we were right where the player locker rooms and staff offices were located. We felt like VIPs so we asked if we could meet Dwyane Wade! We didnt get to meet him, but we still had awesome seats! We were sitting there enjoying the game and then to our surprise, Lil Wayne popped up on the big screen. He was at the game too! Denise Muresan and Kari Wig had never been to an NBA game before, so I think they really enjoyed their first experience in Miami.
Friday is our free day to go enjoy Miami! We're going to South Beach during the day and then to the T.I. Farewell Concert with Young Jeezy, Lloyd Banks and Sean Paul. We're all super excited for the show. It will be a great way to end our Spring Break trip. We'll get up Saturday and return to freezing Ann Arbor, where we will practice all week before leaving Thursday for our match against Baylor in Waco, Texas!
Thanks for reading and Go Blue!
