Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
Opening statement ... "From our perspective it was another close game; you knew it would be. I think that makes six out of the last seven series between these two teams that have been split. There's not much to choose between the teams. I think the first goal was really a big goal that held up for a long while in this game. It put us in a good defensive mode the rest of the way."
On limiting mistakes tonight compared to last night ... "I think we played better defensively and I think our goalie was johnny-on-the-spot. They had a couple isolated good chances, particularly the shorthanded breakaway. That's a big lift for a team one way or another. If they score that changes the momentum, but it was a good save by [Bryan] Hogan. I thought he played better. Our defense and our whole team played better."
On scoring on the five-on-three power play early in the third period ... "It's huge. You come out and you've had a rest between periods, you've got good ice, you have to capitalize on that and we did. That was huge."
U-M Senior Defenseman Chris Summers
On Michigan scoring first and holding the lead ... "I think it's huge. Any time you get the first goal of the game, especially in the first period, the momentum is going your way. That's what we've talked about all year. That's what we always talk about every year; make sure we go out and get that first goal that might change the entire game, whether it be the morale of the forwards and making sure they're burying their chances or giving the defense more confidence to stay up and play a tight gap."
On scoring his first goal of the season ... "It's always nice to score in opportune moments. This was a big game for us. Where we stand right now in the CCHA [standings] every game is going to be a battle and we have to focus one game at a time."
