Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "It's good to win a conference game at home. I would say that it was an ugly win. We got lucky on a couple of our goals and they were unlucky on a couple of their goal-scoring chances. Bryan Hogan had to play a strong game. I liked the way we started. It was good to have a lead. We took too many penalties."
On Lee Moffie's goal ... "It was a huge goal. We were on the power play and Chad Langlais was in the box serving a 10-minute penalty and that's normally his spot on the left point of the power play. Good for Moffie -- he got a shot through and that was huge for us."
On playing with a sense of urgency ... "Yes [we were playing with a sense of urgency], but I would have liked to see us play with more urgency. I think we have to play better than we did tonight. We have to take care of the puck. Let's face it, Notre Dame was short tonight. They had three forwards playing defense. I can't tell you they looked like it. They played pretty well in my eyes. They're still not there. They didn't have their top defenseman in their lineup, Ian Cole. They're a stronger team and we'll see what team they put out there on Sunday. We need to put a better team on the ice on Sunday as well."
U-M Senior Defenseman Steve Kampfer
On tonight's game ... "I think we took a lot of dumb penalties tonight, but I thought we played better defensively than we have in the past. We got our bounces in the offensive zone which we were fortunate to get. However, I think we can be a lot better and I think we need to be better on Sunday."
On Bryan Hogan's performance ... "Hogan gave us a great effort. There were a couple pucks that ended up on the goal line and he got lucky, but I think we were solid in front of him. He faced 24 shots on goal and battled all night. He gave us the chance to win and that's when we need him."
U-M Junior Center Louie Caporusso
On benefitting from some lucky bounces ... "Look at my second assist; it went off my skate back to Lee [Moffie] and he put it in. Sometimes it's the bounces you get and sometimes you don't get those bounces like what happened to me at the beginning of the season. I'm feeling it come around and it feels good."
On being ahead in the game ... "It's huge. We've played the first half of the season coming from behind. That's not fun, especially in your own rink. You want to get the momentum and make [your opponent] have to perform. I think that's huge."
U-M Freshman Defenseman Lee Moffie
On his goal tonight ... "That's been my thing coming in: being an offensive defenseman. I've been trying to focus on playing defense. I don't want to be on for any goals [against] and whenever I can chip in I try and help."
