ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics head coach Kurt Golder announced Friday (Dec. 11) that former Wolverine Geoff Corrigan (2002-05) has been hired as the new men's gymnastics assistant coach.
Corrigan replaces Scott Vetere, who left the program earlier this fall to pursue a job in accounting.
For the past year, Corrigan has served as the men's and women's head competitive coach at Sundance Gymnastics in Monument, Colo., guiding athletes to state, regional and national championships.
A 2005 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies, Corrigan returns to U-M after spending the past four years in Colorado. While there, he continued as a competitive gymnast, training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center under the guidance of former World Champion Vitaly Marinich. In 2008, Corrigan worked as the Athlete Ambassador at the Training Center, acting as a liaison between the public and the staff and athletes. In 2006, he placed seventh in the all-around at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, earning a spot on the senior national team.
Corrigan also worked as a women's gymnastics coach at Stars Gymnastics in Colorado Springs in 2005.
A four-year letterman at Michigan, Corrigan earned All-America honors on the parallel bars and served as team captain in 2005.
Corrigan returns to Ann Arbor with his fiancé, Rachel Walters, a 2006 Michigan graduate.
