Series Notes
With tonight's win, Michigan advanced to 11-5-1 and 5-2-0 at home against Wisconsin in the College Hockey Showcase. U-M has now won three of the last four overall games between the two schools in the CHS.
The Wolverines improved to 20-13-1 in College Hockey Showcase play. Michigan has the most wins (20) and best winning percentage (.603) in the 17 years of the tournament.
U-M improved its all-time record against Wisconsin to 63-52-7.
With wins over Minnesota and Wisconsin this weekend, the Maize and Blue swept the College Hockey Showcase for the sixth time in program history.
Team Notables
Tonight's 3-2 win stretches the Maize and Blue's winning streak to a season-high three games.
Michigan's penalty kill ranked third in the country with a 90.5% success rate entering Saturday's game. U-M killed all four of its penalties, recording its second perfect game of the weekend (11-for-11) and ninth this season.
The Wolverines have recorded a power-play goal in a season-best four consecutive games. Matt Rust scored his first power-play goal of the season tonight.
Streaks and Peak
Junior goaltender Bryan Hogan's career-best shutout streak reached 134:30 before UW scored at 10:08 of the second period tonight. Hogan's shutout run stretched from Nov. 21 vs. Bowling Green, through a shutout of Minnesota on Nov. 27 and into tonight's win over Wisconsin.
Hogan also stopped a career-high 39 shots in the win, while facing 41 shots for the second time in his career.
With a helper tonight, junior left wing Carl Hagelin advanced his point streak to three games (3-1-4), tying a season high.
Hagelin took over the team lead in points with two goals and one assist this weekend to give him 7-5-12 totals. His seven goals also lead the team.
Junior center Louie Caporusso improved his point streak to a season-best four contests (3-3-6).
Sophomore left wing David Wohlberg boosted his point streak to four games (1-4-5) after assisting on the game-winner. Wolhberg now has a 2-5-7 line in the last seven outings. His seven assists lead the team.
Player Notables
Sophomore center Luke Glendening scored his first career shorthanded goal.
Caporusso's game-winner was his first of the season and the 10th of his career.
After going without a point in the last four games before this weekend, senior defenseman Steve Kampfer recorded his third assist of the weekend.
Freshman right wing A.J. Treais notched his first career assist, providing the primary feed on Caporusso's game-winner.
