ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan sophomore diver Amanda Lohman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was named Big Ten Diver of the Week after winning two events last Friday (Oct. 23) against Toledo and the University of Toronto, the league office announced Tuesday (Oct. 27).
Lohman set a career high in the one-meter dive with a score of 307.50, shattering her previous mark of 296.00, set at last season's Big Ten Championships. She then posted a 325.10 off the three-meter board to claim her second individual title of the day. Both performances were good enough to achieve NCAA qualifying standards.
Lohman has been Michigan's top diver in both meets this season, also winning the one-meter and finishing second in the three-meter at Notre Dame (Oct. 10).
"She's a strong diver and is someone who really gets up for the meets," head diving coach Chris Bergére said after the meet Friday. "She likes to perform and has a real shot to compete at nationals. She just has to do it well, but I think she will be there for us."
It is the second weekly award for Lohman's career. She also earned the honor Feb. 10, 2009, helping Michigan to a dual-meet victory over Notre Dame.
