Wednesday, August 20 -- The 17th GAM Women's Championship at the U-M Golf Course came to a close with Min Yean Tan just missing medalist honors by two shots as she tied for the runner-up spot with a 146 total after rounds of 71 and 75. Seven other Wolverines competed at the event. Topping the list was Louisa Shu, who was seventh with a 153 total (78-75) while Brooke Bettis (81-75) and Milena Savich (78-78) tied for 11th at 156. Rounding out the Wolverines finishes included: Ashley Bauer (78-79) and Andrea Ratigan (79-78) tied for 14th at 157, Katelin Davis tied for 23rd at 159 (81-78) and Meagan Bauer tied for 28th at 161 (84-77). Tuesday, August 19 -- Day one of the 17th GAM Women's Championship at the U-M Golf Course is completed with four Wolverines sitting among the top 20 on the leaderboard. Min Yean Tan leads the way as she is tied for the lead after firing an even-par 71, while Ashley Bauer, Louisa Shu and Milena Savich are tied for 17th after rounds of 78. Andrea Ratigan is tied for 22nd after posting a 79, Brooke Bettis and Katelin Davis are tied for 31st after 81s and Meagan Bauer is tied for 44th with an 84. Thursday, August 14 -- Final preparations are being made as the U-M Golf Course will play host to the 17th GAM Women's Championship. The 36-hole tournament will be played Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 19-20). Among the field includes eight of the Wolverines nine-member roster -- AshleyBauer, Meagan Bauer, Brooke Bettis, Katelin Davis, Andrea Ratigan, Milena Savich, Louisa Shu and Min Yean Tan. Wednesday-Thursday, Aug. 6-7 -- Incoming freshman Milena Savich did not advance to match-play at the 2008 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. After opening with a 74, she found herself among the top 25 players, but she carded an 81 in the second round to give her a 155 total to tie for for 89th just three shots out of qualifying for match-play. Monday-Wednesday, July 14-16 -- Former Wolverine Elaine Crosby closed as the runner-up with a 219 total (74-73-72) at the 2008 Michigan PGA Women's Open Championships at the Crystal Mountain Golf Course in Thompsonville, Mich. Other U-M past and present finishes included: former Wolverine Misia Lemanski (77-74-77) and current Wolverine Min Yean Yan (78-76-74) both tied for 11th with 228 totals, while current Wolverines Katelin Davis (83-77-77) and Louisa Shu (85-76-76) both tied for 26th with 237 totals. Monday-Friday, July 7-11 --Ashley Bauer was eliminated in the semifinal of the 92nd Michigan Women's Amateur Championship being held at the Walnut Hills Country Club in East Lansing, Mich., after 1-up lost to No. 3 seed Laura Bavaird. Bauer opened her championship earning the No. 7 seed for match-play after posting a 153 (76-77) stroke play qualifying score. In her first round match-play, she defeated teammate and No. 26 seed Louisa Shu, 5-and-3. In Bauer's quarterfinal she defeated No. 10 seed Kristina Langton, 3-and-2 and hada 5-and-4 win over No. 2 seed Julie Massa.. Andrea Ratigan earned the 13th seed with a 156 (80-76) and advanced to the quarterfinals after a 22 hole win over No. 20 Natalie Brehm. She was elimiated by a 1-up win by No. 4 see Stephanie Fleet. Shu was the 26th after a 159 (78-81) stroke play score. She was eliminated in the first round of match play by Bauer. Tuesday, June 10 -- In a nine player playoff for two qualifying spots and two alternate spots at the U.S. Women's Open Sectional qualifier at the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill., incoming freshman Milena Savich earned the second alternate spot, while former Wolverine LeAnna Wicks was unable to advance, losing on the fourth playoff hole for an alternate spot. On the very first hole of the playoffDana Ford and Emily Powers earned the qualifying spots after making par while four players, including Savich, made bogey. Three players were eliminated after double bogeying the first playoff hole. Throughout the next six holes the four remaining players battled for the two alternate spots. Savich battled to the final pairing but an errant bounce off the tee put her ball in a rut and she was forced to chip to the fairway dropping the hole and earning the second alternate spot. Monday, June 9 -- Former Wolverine LeAnna Wicks and incoming freshman Milena Savich were among nine players to post a 154 total forcing a Tuesday (June 10) playoff for two qualifying spots and two alternate spots at the U.S. Women's Open Sectional qualifier at the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill. Ashley Bauer was just a shot out of the playoff after posting a 155 total and former Wolverine Amy Schmucker did not advance after posting a 158 total. Lydia Bentez Coln did not advance in her sectional at the Loblolly Pines Golf Course in Hobe Sound, Fla., after posting a 171 total. [Sectional Qualifying Results]
Tuesday, May 27 --Louisa Shu, who carded an 80, and Lydia Bentez Coln, who posted an 81, both earned alternate status for the 2008 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links after their single round tallies at their sectional qualifier at Lake Forest Golf Club in Ann Arbor, Mich. [Results]
Monday, May 19 -- Ashley Bauer, incoming freshman Milena Savich and former Wolverine LeAnna Wicks (1999-2002) were among nine players who made it through U.S. Women's Open local qualifying at Knollwood Country Club in West Bloomfield, Mich. Savich shot 78 for a third place finish, one shot behind the co-medalists, while Wicks fired an 80 and Bauer carded an 81. All three players are scheduled to play in the June 9 sectional qualifier at Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill. [ Local Qualifying Results]
Thursday, May 15 -- Lydia Bentez Coln used a round of 75 to become one of 19 players who advanced from the U.S. Women's Open local qualifier at Imperial Golf Club in Naples, Fla. She will play in the June 9 sectional qualifier at Loblolly in Hobe Sound, Fla. [ Local Qualifying Results]
Tuesday, May 13 -- Former Wolverine Amy Schmucker (2003-06) used a round of 78 to become one of 16 players who advanced from the U.S. Women's Open local qualifier at Woodhilll Country Club in Wayzata, Minn.
