
Ofili Voted to CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior co-captain Tiffany Ofili(Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti) of the University of Michigan women's track and field team was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 4 second team, announced Thursday (June 5) by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Ofili, a two-time NCAA champion and three-time NCAA All-American, will enroll in the School of Pharmacy in fall 2008. She was a recipient of the U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award in 2006-07. She also earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades in 2007 and '08. She is active with U-M's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, visiting patients and assisting with Mock Rock, U-M's annual fundraiser for the children's hospital.
This season Ofili captured the 60-meter hurdles title at the NCAA Indoor Championships and won the 60-meter hurdles as well as the long jump at the 2008 Big Ten Indoor Championships on the way to being named the Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of Year for the 2008 indoor season. She earned all-Big Ten second team and all-regional honors in the 100-meter hurdles during the outdoor season.
The junior co-captain owns the U-M record in the 60-meter hurdles (7.94) and the 100-meter hurdles (12.80).
Ofili will look to defend her 100-meter hurdles national championship next week at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She will be joined by seven U-M teammates at the meet, which runs Wednesday through Saturday (June 11-14) at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
