Postgame Notes: Michigan State 35, Michigan 21

• With the 35-21 loss, Michigan drops to 67-29-5 all-time against Michigan State and 33-17-3 at Michigan Stadium.

• The defeat snapped U-M's six-game winning streak in the series and eight-game home winning streak against the Spartans. The six-game stretch was the fourth longest in the rivalry. The Wolverines claimed 14 consecutive decisions from 1916-29.

• Today's contest marked the 1,199th game in U-M program history. The Wolverines will play their 1,200th contest next week at Purdue (Nov. 1).

• Michigan allowed its opponent to convert on fourth down for the first time this season after stopping seven consecutive attempts.

• Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez is now 2-1 against MSU head coach Mark Dantonio. Rodriguez's two victories occurred when the pair met coaching for West Virginia and Cincinnati, respectively.

• During the contest, Rodriguez wore an armband to support the fight against muscular dystrophy, joining more than 200 coaches nationwide as part of the AFCA's Coaches to Cure Muscular Dystrophy effort.

• Seniors and Michigan natives Sean Griffin, Will Johnson, Charles Stewart and John Thompson served as game captains against Michigan State.

• Former fullback Don E. Dufek (1948-50), defensive back Don P. Dufek (1973-75), offensive tackle Bill Dufek (1974-78) and All-America running back Butch Woolfolk (1978-81) served as honorary game captains for today's contest.

• More than 500 U-M football letterwinners formed the Wolverines' pregame tunnel prior to kickoff.

• Sophomore/freshman quarterback Steven Threet completed 13-of-27 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown and rushed for one score against the Spartans.

• Junior tailback Brandon Minor carried 15 times for 55 yards and one touchdown. He also snagged his second career touchdown reception on a 19-yard completion to level the score, 7-7, in the first quarter. His first touchdown catch occurred on a 26-yard score against Toledo (Oct. 11).

• Minor scored Michigan first two touchdowns against Michigan State. Dating back to the Toledo game (Oct. 11), Minor accounted for five consecutive U-M touchdowns, gaining three rushing scores and two receiving.

• With two scores against MSU, Minor has posted multiple touchdown games in back-to-back weeks.

• Junior punter Zoltan Mesko punted eight times for 352 yards during the competition, booting three 50-yard punts and dropping one inside the 20-yard line. Mesko now ranks fifth in school history for career punting attempts (173) and fourth for yardage (7,321).

• Junior defensive end Brandon Graham tied a season high with three sacks against MSU. Graham's 17 career sacks rank eighth in U-M history.

• Junior/sophomore middle linebacker Obi Ezeh recorded his third double-digit tackle effort of the season, registering seven solo stops and three assisted tackles.

• Freshman cornerback Boubacar Cissoko became Michigan's second specialist to gain more than 100 return yards, totaling 107 kick return yards on four attempts.

• Junior safety Stevie Brown tied a career high with eight tackles in the contest, including a personal-best seven solo stops.

• Brown earned his first career sack in the first quarter, logging his second career forced fumble and third career fumble recovery to set up Minor's first touchdown.

• Fifth-year senior linebacker John Thompson blocked a field goal attempt by the Spartans in the second quarter. It was the first blocked field goal of the season and the first of Thompson's career.

• Sophomore linebacker Jonas Mouton recorded his first career forced fumble in the second quarter.

• Sophomore wide receiver James Rogers made his first career start in the game against Michigan State.

• Today's announced crowd of 110,146 is the 214th consecutive game welcoming more than 100,000 fans at Michigan Stadium.
