In the final round, the Wolverines moved past Iowa, Iowa State, Ohio State and Wisconsin for U-M's third top-five finish of the season. Longevity Continues
Ashley Bauer has yet to miss a tournament in her career at Michigan, playing in 27 straight events. Bauer is one of two Wolverines with a consecutive-event streak along with Min Yean Tan, who has played in 15 straight events.
Model of Consistency
Ashley Bauer continues to be the model of consistency for the Wolverines. Her current career average of 76.33 is the best for any golfer in U-M history. In 27 career events, she has posted 15 top-20 individual finishes and 10 in the top 10. She earned her first collegiate win in the season-opening 2008 Wolverine Invitational and leads U-M with a career-best 75.20 strokes per round. Overall, she has three top-10 finishes in four events this season.
Newcomer Impact
Milena Savich has opened her freshman season starting the first four events. She has three top-20 individual finishes in the first four tournaments, including two top-10 performances. At the 2008 Windy City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 7), she shot a career-best 72 in the first round en route to a career-best 224 54-hole tournament total. She is second among the Wolverines averaging 76.60 strokes per round, which is currently the best average for a freshman in U-M history.
Breaking Through
Min Yean Tan had a breakout event at the Windy City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 7), leading the Wolverines for the first time this season, finishing tied for fourth with a career-best 221 54-hole total. She tied a career-best with a 72 in the first round. She has started all four events, and is third on the Wolverines with a career-best 77.20 average.
Quietly Adding to the Depth
Louisa Shu has become a mainstay in the Wolverine lineup. She has started three of the four events and is averaging a career-best 78.30 strokes per round, which is nearly two strokes better than her freshman season average (80.00). She has set new career bests for single-round tally (74, 2008 Mary Fossum) and for a 54-hole tournament (233, 2008 Windy City Collegiate).
Sister Act, Part 2
Last season, the Wolverines had the Davis sisters, Lindsay and Katelin, on the roster. With Lindsay now graduated, this season, the sisterly act continues as Ashley Bauer welcomes her younger sister, Meagan, to the team. Ashley leads U-M with a 75.14 scoring averaging playing in all four events, while Meagan played in one event as an individual.
