Postgame Notes: Toledo 13, Michigan 10

• Today's announced crowd of 107,367 is the 213th consecutive game welcoming more than 100,000 fans at Michigan Stadium.
• Today's Michigan game captains were fifth-year senior safety Shakir Edwards, senior/junior kicker Jason Olesnavage, senior nose tackle Terrance Taylor and fifth-year senior linebacker John Thompson.
• Michigan honored three alumni game captains during the first timeout of the game: offensive tackle Rick Strenger (1980-82) and linebackers Brian Townsend (1988-91) and Larry Foote (1998-2001).
• Today's 13-10 loss to Toledo is Michigan's first-ever loss to a current Mid-American Conference school, dropping U-M's all-time record against MAC teams to a 24-1.
• U-M fell to 0-1 against Toledo in the initial game between two schools separated by 45 miles.
• Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez holds a 1-3 record in non-conference games at U-M but has won 19 of his last 24 contests against non-conference foes overall. Rodriguez had a 10-game non-conference winning streak snapped in the home opener against Utah.
• For the first time this season, the Wolverines started the same five starters on the offensive line in consecutive weeks.
• Three Wolverines made their first career starts in today's contest: sophomore Zion Babb at wide receiver, sophomore/freshman Ryan Van Bergen at defensive end and freshman Boubacar Cissoko at cornerback. Van Bergen recorded a career-best three stops against the Rockets, while Cissoko's two tackles and one pass breakup are the first of his career.
• Sophomore/freshman quarterback Steven Threet completed 7-of-11 attempts for 55 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the first half but did not see action in the final two quarters due to injury.
• Entering the game after halftime, junior/sophomore quarterback Nick Sheridan finished the game 8-of-16 passing for 65 yards with two interceptions.
• Freshman running back Sam McGuffie surpassed the 100-carry mark for the season, rushing 25 times for 105 yards against Toledo and increasing his career totals to 109 rushing attempts and 424 yards.
• McGuffie's 100-yard game is the second of his career and third for the Wolverines this season. Freshman wide receiver Martavious Odoms earned the other 100-yard performance, grabbing seven passes for 129 yards against Illinois (Oct. 4).
• Junior running back Brandon Minor scored his first career receiving touchdown, crossing the goal line on a career-long 27-yard catch in the first quarter. Minor doubled his career output for receiving yards, increasing his career total to 52 yards on seven catches.
• Senior/junor punter Zoltan Mesko kicked two 60-yard punts (63, 61) and had four kicks downed inside Toledo's 20-yard line. Mesko closed the day with 248 yards punting on five attempts (49.6 avg.).
• Fifth-year senior cornerback Morgan Trent registered one pass breakup in the contest, upping his career total to 23 PBUs and moving him into 10th all-time with Thom Darden (1969-71).
• Starting as a kick returner, sophomore/freshman Avery Horn returned two kicks for 51 yards in today's contest.
• Sophomore wide receiver James Rogers fielded a kickoff for the first time in his career and returned it 24 yards.
• After two weeks without giving up an interception, Wolverine passers threw three interceptions against Toledo.
• Michigan did not lose a fumble for the first time in six games this season.
• Sophomore/freshman safety Mike Williams posted a career-best four tackles against Toledo and earned his first sack.
• The Wolverine defense did not allow Toledo to run a play in Wolverine territory until 8:28 in the second quarter.
• Toledo senior receiver Nick Moore hauled in a Michigan opponent record 20 passes, good for 162 yards. The previous record was 17 by Northwestern's Jon Harvey in Michigan's 49-14 win on Oct. 23, 1982.
• The Rockets scored 10 of their 13 points off turnovers, with one interception returned for a touchdown and another that set up a 48-yard field goal by junior kicker Alex Steigerwald.
• Toledo senior safety Tyrell Herbert's 100-yard interception return for a first-quarter touchdown is the longest against Michigan in U-M program history. The previous mark was 99 by Illinois' Bruce Sullivan (Nov. 5, 1966).
