Michigan will once again host its own invitational at the U-M Golf Course. Last season, the Maize and Blue won its fourth Wolverine Invitational team title in the last five years. The title gave the Wolverine program its eighth trophy in 23 total events at the U-M Golf Course, putting it atop the record book for most team titles in the Ann Arbor event.
With her tie for 14th place at the Lady Northern (Sept. 22-23), Ashley Bauer has posted back-to-back top 20 finishes for Michigan. In addition, it marked the second straight tournament Bauer has finished as the highest U-M individual. In her career, she has closed as the top U-M individual in a tournament in six-of-14 events.
Michigan has been represented in NCAA regional competition by the team or an individual in six of the last seven seasons, making team appearances in 2001, '02, '05 and '07. Laura Olin (2004) and Amy Schmucker (2006) have made Central Regional appearances as individuals. In 2002, the Wolverines finished sixth at the Central Regional in East Lansing, Mich., to advance to their first appearance at the NCAA Championships, where the Maize and Blue finished 17th.
Michigan has 28 team titles in the history of the program. Of those 28 titles, 22 have come under U-M coach Kathy Teichert. The Wolverines have won at least one tournament in each of the last four seasons with nine total during that span -- two (2003-04), four (2004-05), one (2005-06) and two (2006-07).
Michigan has had at least one medalist in each of the last seven seasons. Overall, U-M has racked up 13 total individual titles over the last seven years. In the program's history there have been 23 total individual wins.
