PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior forward Jake Stacy (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) of the University of Michigan men's soccer team was named Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday (Sept. 17). This is Stacy's second straight conference honor.

Stacy received the recognition based on his dynamic performance at the Michigan Invitational Tournament this past weekend (Sept. 14-16). Stacy tallied a goal, an assist and three shots in U-M's 4-0 win over Kentucky Friday (Sept. 14). He then contributed two assists -- on two perfectly placed corner kicks -- in Michigan's 5-1 rout of Florida International Sunday (Sept. 16). He totaled four shots -- one on goal -- in the game against FIU.
Last weekend at the Cal State Fullerton Tournament (Sept. 7-9), Stacy knocked in the game-winning goal -- his first tally of the year -- in U-M's 2-1 win over Cal State Northridge Friday (Sept. 7). Stacy also tallied an assist to Julian Robles in Michigan's first score of the game.
In Michigan's 4-0 defeat of Cal State-Fullerton Sunday night (Sept. 9), Stacy earned his second score of the season in the first half to put the Wolverines up, 2-0. The performance gave Stacy a nod on the Cal State Fullerton All-Tournament team.
The last time a Michigan soccer player earned back-to-back Big Ten Player of the Week honors was when goalkeepr Peter Dzubay (2002-05) earned Defensive Player of the Week in 2002.
The Wolverines now stand at 6-0-0 -- their best start since the 2004 season.
The Wolverines will host Detroit Friday (Sept. 21, 5 p.m.) and Wisconsin Sunday (Sept. 23, 2:30 p.m.) on the U-M Soccer Field.
