ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Fifth-year senior Katie Erdman (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac HS) of the University of Michigan women's track & field team was selected to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-America Womens Track & Field/Cross Country first team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Wednesday (June 27).

Erdman was named to the Academic-All District IV first team by CoSIDA on June 11, allowing her to move forward in the balloting process. In order to be eligible for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Erdman, an English and Spanish major, was named to the CoSIDA named Academic All-American second team last season.
Erdmans success in the classroom is matched by her accolades on the track. Erdman garnered ten All-America honors during her career as a Wolverine -- the most ever in Michigans program. Most recently, she earned NCAA outdoor All-America citations in the 800-meter run, along with two NCAA indoor All-America honors in the 800-meter run and distance medley relay at the 2007 championships.
Erdman helped lead the womens track & field team to a third-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 6-9, in Sacramento, Calif.
