
Chan To Represent Singapore in Southeast Asia Games

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand -- Sophomore David Chan(Singapore/Hale School) of the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team will be competing for Singapore in the Southeast Asia Games starting tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 7).
The team finals and individual qualifying will take place Friday, with the all-around competition scheduled for Sunday (Dec. 9) and the individual event finals on Monday (Dec. 10). The Southeast Asia Games have been held biannually since 1959, and this year's event involves 11 countries.
Chan, a walk-on his freshman year, was awarded the Solomon Scholarship for 2007-08 after gaining All-America accolades last year for the Wolverines on the vault with a seventh-place national finish. He is also a pommel horse specialist with a career high of 9.00.
Michigan, which is ranked sixth in the GymInfo preseason coaches poll, will begin its season Saturday, Dec. 15, with its Maize and Blue Intrasquad at Cliff Keen Arena. The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
