
Michigan Ranked Preseason No. 4 by the USTFCCCA

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team received an indoor preseason No. 4 ranking by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Thursday (Dec. 20). The Wolverines finished ninth at the 2007 Indoor NCAA Championships and a program-best third at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The 2008 team returns 100m hurdles national champion junior Tiffany Ofili(Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti) and All-Americans senior Nicole Edwards(Winnipeg, Man/Vincent Massey), junior Geena Gall(Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) and junior Bettie Wade(Northville, Mich./Farmington).
During the 2007 season, Edwards and Gall each earned All-America honors as part of the third-place Distance Medley Relay with former Wolverines Chanelle Campbell (2004-07) and Katie Erdman (2004-07) in the NCAA Indoor Championships. Edwards also earned All-America accolades with a third-place finish in the mile run (indoor) and a seventh-place performance in the 1,500m run (outdoor), and Gall added to her All-America collection with a fifth-place showing in the 800m run (outdoor). Wade placed fifth in the pentathalon (indoor) and seventh in the heptathalon (outdoor) to earn All-American status.
The Wolverines open their indoor season Thursday and Friday, Jan. 11-12, at the Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
