Woodward, Yoshimura Selected as Captains for 2008

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics head coach Kurt Golder announced Thursday (Nov. 15) that senior/junior Paul Woodward(Tallahassee, Fla./Chiles) and senior/junior Arren Yoshimura(Denver, Colo./George Washington) have been voted by their teammates as co-captains for the 2008 season. This is the first time either has held the title.
Woodward is a two-time U-M Athletic Academic Achievement award recipient (2006-07) and two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree (2006-07). He was also named a College Gymnastics Association (CGA) All-America Scholar-Athlete in 2006. He has career highs of 9.450 on the pommel horse, 8.45 on vault, and 9.15 on the parallel bars.
Yoshimura earned CGA All-America Scholar-Athlete status from 2006-07. He was named a member of the 2007 Academic All-Big Ten team and received the U-M Academic Achievement Award from 2006-07. Yoshimura holds a 9.10 career high in the still rings, an 8.70 on the parallel bars, and an 8.40 on the high bar.
Michigan will kick off its season with the Maize and Blue intrasquad on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena.
