TEAM NOTABLES
Michigan will play in its third straight Landfall Tradition. Last year the Wolverines closed fifth among the 12-team field with a 917 (300-315-302) tournament total. In 2005, the Maize and Blue were 11th with a 952 total (316-321-315). Individually, former Wolverine Brianna Broderick's (2003-06) tie for third-place finish (72-76-74/222) last year is the best for U-M at the event.
Michigan posted a season-best 54-hole tournament total with a 908 showing at Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate (Oct. 15-17). The Maize and Blue topped the 916 total U-M had in the season-opening Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 8-9).
Michigan's first-round 295 at the Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 29-30) marked the first time this season the Wolverines broke 300 in a tournament round. For the season, the Maize and Blue has averaged 306.42 per round as a team.
With her season-best tie for fourth-place finish at Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate, Ashley Bauer has finished as the top Wolverine in all four tournaments this season. For her career, Bauer has now finished as the top U-M individual in eight of 16 events.
A Michigan player has never led the team at every tournament during an entire season. The best all-time was Laura Olin (2002-05), who was the top Wolverine in 11 of the 12 tournaments during the 2003-04 season. In 2005-06, Amy Schmucker (2003-06) led in 10 of the 11 tournaments, and in the 1997-98 season, Sharon Park (1996-99) led in nine of the 11 events.
Ashley Bauer started her 16th straight tournament for U-M at the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate. She has yet to miss a start for U-M during her career. Andrea Ratigan has started the last 14 events she has been inserted in the lineup, while Lindsay Davis has started her last seven straight events. In addition to Bauer and Davis, Lydia Bentez Coln and Min Yean Tan have started all four tournaments this season.
Michigan has been represented in NCAA regional competition by the team or an individual in six of the last seven seasons, making team appearances in 2001, '02, '05 and '07. Laura Olin (2004) and Amy Schmucker (2006) have made Central Regional appearances as individuals. In 2002, the Wolverines finished sixth at the Central Regional in East Lansing, Mich., to advance to their first appearance at the NCAA Championships, where the Maize and Blue finished 17th.
Michigan has 28 team titles in the history of the program. Of those 28 titles, 22 have come under U-M coach Kathy Teichert. The Wolverines have won at least one tournament in each of the last four seasons with nine total during that span -- two (2003-04), four (2004-05), one (2005-06) and two (2006-07).
