Track Trio Voted to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women's track and field/cross country teams Thursday (June 1), and three University of Michigan student-athletes were included.
Senior/junior captain Katie Erdman (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac HS) and sophomore Alyson Kohlmeier (Sarnia, Ontario/St. Patrick's HS) were named to the Academic All-District IV first team, advancing them to the Academic All-America ballot, while junior Erin Webster (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child HS) made the Academic All-District second team.
To be nominated, student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, and hold at least sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution.
Majoring in English and Spanish, Erdman earned two NCAA indoor All-America honors in the 800-meter run and distance medley relay at the 2006 championships, making her a five-time All-America during her Michigan career. Erdman also took first place at the 2006 Big Ten Indoor Championships in the 600m, making her the first runner to be a three-time 600m Big Ten champion (2003, '04 and '06).
Kohlmeier has had a breakthrough year in 2006, earning All-Big Ten first team honors in cross country with a second-place finish, indoor All-America honors (5,000m) and All-Big Ten first team honors with victories in the 5,000m and DMR. The Wolverine sophomore also was the top Michigan finisher in six cross country meets, winning two individual titles (Great Meadows Invitational and Spartan Invitational).
A communications major, Webster earned 2006 All-Big Ten first team honors in cross country with a seventh-place finish, was an indoor All-American (5,000m) and Big Ten champion (3,000m), and was the outdoor Big Ten runner-up in the 5,000m.
Kohlmeier and Webster will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday through Saturday (June 7-10) at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.
