The seating capacity of Ferry Field was expanded to 25,000 in 1914 and to 40,000 in 1921. The attendance for this Oct. 25, 1924, game -- a 21-0 shutout of Wisconsin -- was 45,000. | Benny Friedman was the Big Ten MVP in 1926, the last year for football at Ferry Field. | Bob Osgood earned U-M's first NCAA hurdles title, winning the 400-meter high event in 1936. |
Jesse Owens broke three world records and matched another at the 1935 Big Ten Championships. A plaque commemorating his accomplishment sits at the southeast corner of Ferry Field. |
