U-M Among 12 Teams Invited to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind -- The selections for the 2006 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships were announced this week (March 28) by the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Committee. Twelve teams and other individuals (from teams who did not qualify) will compete in one of two national qualifying sessions on Thursday (April 6) on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.
The University of Michigan is scheduled to compete in the second of two qualifying sessions at 7 p.m. CST Thursday at OU's Lloyd Noble Center.
The top three teams and the top three all-around and individual event competitors not on those teams from each round will advance to the Team Finals (April 7), where the NCAA team champion and all-around champion will be determined. The top eight individuals on each event (plus ties) will then advance to Saturday's (April 8) Individual Event Finals competition.

Individuals from the University of Illinois-Chicago, the Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, Springfield College, James Madison University, and the Air Force Academy also qualified to the championships.
