Three Wolverine Divers Compete at NCAA Zone C Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team sent three divers to participate in the three-day NCAA Zone C Diving Championships held Friday through Sunday (March 10-12) at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Kyle Howard (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) competed in all three diving events, while Jon Donadee (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) and Kyle Schroeder (Milan, Mich./Milan) both participated in the one- and three-meter springboard events.
Howard was the only Michigan diver to score in the top 18 to move on to the final round during the championships. On Friday in the three-meter event, the junior finished 14th, scoring 559.20 after 11 dives. In the platform competition, Howard once again made it to the final round, placing eighth with a score of 585.35, seven spots from an NCAA berth.
Donadee was just 45 points shy of making the finals off the three-meter springboard, earning 220.10 points over six dives. In Saturday's one-meter event, Donadee started with three solid dives, but mistakes in the final three prevented him from moving into the finals as he scored 184.95 for 38th.
Schroeder's strongest appearance came on Saturday. The Michigan native missed the one-meter finals by just over 24 points, finishing in 25th with 221.10 points. On the three-meter board, Schroeder placed in 41st with a score of 145.15.
The Maize and Blue will take two weeks off before sending seven swimmers to Atlanta, Ga., March 23-25 to compete in the NCAA Championships. The preliminary events will take place at noon each day with finals to take place at 7 p.m.
