Broderick Named Mid-Season All-American by Golf World

ANN ARBOR, Mich. C After four straight strong performances in the fall season, University of Michigan women's senior golfer Brianna Broderick (Richmond, Mo./Richmond HS) was honored by Golf World Magazine as one of 12 members on the Mid-Season All-American Team as well as the women's Mid-Season Most Surprising Player.
Other players joining Broderick as Mid-Season All-Americans included: Amanda Blumenherst (Duke, So.), Jacqui Concolino (Vanderbilt, So.), Emily Hoeper (Denver, Sr.), Ashley Knoll (Texas A&M, Sr.), Taylor Leon (Georgia, So.), Stacey Lewis (Arkansas, Jr.), Catherine Matranga (TCU, Sr.), Anna Nordqvist (Arizona State, Fr.), Stephanie Sherlock (Denver, Fr.), Alison Walshe (Arizona, Jr.) and Caroline Westrup (Florida State, So.).
In all four tournaments this fall, Broderick has led the Wolverines and finished among the top five individually in each event. To kick off the 2006-07 season, she tied for runner-up at the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 16-17) and followed with her second career medalist honor at the Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) after winning in a playoff. She followed those performances with a tie for fifth at the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship (Oct. 13-15) and a tie for third at the Landfall Tradition (Oct. 27-29).
Broderick is currently rated the top Big Ten Golfer and No. 13 overall individual in all of women's collegiate golf with a 71.56 rating by the Golfweek/Sagarin Rating System. She is averaging a career-best-pace 73.42 strokes per round and has twice shot a career-best 70 during the fall C first round, Wolverine Invitational and the third round of the Mercedes-Benz Championship.
In her four-year career, Broderick has yet to miss a single tournament as she has played in 39 events for the Maize and Blue and has a career-best stroke average of 77.26, which ranks second all-time. For her career she has 20 top 20 finishes, 14 top 10 and seven top five finishes individually. She has two medalist honors in her career.
The Wolverines close their fall season, over the Thanksgiving break, with a trip to Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii, Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 22-23, for the Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Kiahuna Golf Club, and will be a split tournament with men's and women's programs.
