TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The third-ranked University of Michigan women's cross country team earned a tie for second place in the 37-team White division at the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday (Oct. 14). All seven Michigan runners finished in the top 67 spots in the 253-person field.
Fifth-ranked North Carolina State captured the White division team title with 117 points, 59 points ahead of runners-up Michigan and No. 9-ranked Wisconsin. No. 8 UC Santa Barbara (196), No. 17 Illinois (219) and No. 2 Colorado (228) rounded out the top six.
Senior/junior Erin Webster (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) was the first Wolverine to cross the finish line in the 6,000-meter race, taking fourth place with a time of 20:10.2. The time established a new 6,000-meter personal best for Webster, and it marked the fourth time in as many races that Webster has led Michigan to the finish.

The final four Michigan runners helped to preserve the team's tie for second place, as senior/junior Lisa Uible (Cincinnati, Ohio/Upper Arlington), junior/sophomore Claire Otwell (Traverse City, Mich./Central), grad/senior Katie Gwyther (Madison, N.H./Kennet) and junior/sophomore Nicole Edwards (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey) all finished within 10.2 seconds of each other while placing 53rd to 67th. Uible's 21:14.7 set a personal best.
