Michigan Coach Kathy Teichert
On the Mary Fossum Invitational ... "This is a good start in terms of seeing what we have and where we're going to need to go. You are always going to have a start and an end. We can build upon this start. Did we have a good tournament A couple of them did. Not the whole team. It was great to see Lindsay (Davis) shoot a 72 in the second round. It was great to see Rose (Cassard) play in her first collegiate event and get some valuable experience. We just need to build upon what we did here this weekend. That is the good thing. We have a lot of golf ahead of us."
On the Wolverines scoring throughout the weekend ... "In each round we had three good scores. We didn't get the fourth score. We had to count an 80 in each round and we are not accustom to those type of scores counting. Yes, it is the beginning of the year, but we need to figure out some way to get some scores lower. We need to get four good scores together. We have some players that can handle that task. For whatever reason, it didn't all come together for us during this weekend. We let some things get to us."
Senior Amy Schmucker
On the tournament ... "Since we won it (Mary Fossum Invitational) last year, I know we wanted to repeat our title, but I think it was better for us that we focus on surging towards the end. We won a lot of tournaments early last year and then didn't meet our goal for reaching NCAAs. So, I think with this opening tournament was a good stepping stone for us. We played solid. We needed to see where we were at. Now, we can go home and work on the things we need to work on and then get ready for the next tournament and improve."
On what the Wolverines need to work on for the next tournament ... "We need to work on our consistency. We don't want to count scores in the 80s. With the caliber team that we have we should not be doing that. We just need to find that consistency and we will be all set for the next tournament."
Junior Brianna Broderick
On the tournament ... "Echoing what was already said, it's the first tournament of the year. It is nice to see where we stand and what we need to work and improve on. We kind of look at it as, we are going to go back to Ann Arbor and take a look what we need to improve and get better. Each one of us contributes to this team. So, we need to look at ourselves and see what we can do to help the team better."
On finding consistency ... "I think it is just going to take a lot of patience and a lot of grinding it out. We have a lot of depth, so I feel confident with whatever team we take (to a tournament). It's just going to take a lot of hard work on our end, which a lot of our girl's have. So, I am not really worried about that."
