Carl, Sickler Named to U.S. Under-23 National Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Rising senior Stesha Carl (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS) and recent graduate Brett Sickler (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) of the University of Michigan women's rowing program were selected to represent the United States at the 2005 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, U.S. Rowing announced on Monday (July 11).
The competition will span July 22-24. Carl will be in the women's four, while Sickler will be in the women's double sculls.
Carl has been a fixture in the Maize and Blue first varsity eight for each of her three seasons. In 2002, she rowed for Team USA at the World Junior Championships.
Sickler, who stroked U-M's first varsity eight at the 2005 NCAA Championships, was a second team All-American while also earning All-Central Region first-team recognition from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association and All-Big Ten second team honors. She was in Michigan's top boat in each of the last three seasons. Sickler previously competed for Team USA at the 2001 World Junior Championships.
