U-M Among 12 Teams Invited to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind -- The selections for the 2005 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships were announced last week (March 30) by the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Committee. Twelve teams and individuals (from teams who did not qualify) will compete in one of two national qualifying sessions on Thursday (April 7) on the campus of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
The top three teams and the top three all-around and individual event competitors not on those teams from each round will advance to the Team Finals (April 8) where the NCAA team champion and all-around champion will be determined. The top eight individuals on each event (plus ties) will then advance to Saturday's (April 9) Individual Event Finals competition.
The following teams have qualified for the 2005 NCAA Championships:

Individuals from Illinois-Chicago, Temple, Springfield College, Navy, Air Force and James Madison also qualified to the championships.
Michigan is scheduled to compete in the first of the two qualifying sessions on Thursday (April 7) at 1 p.m. at the Military Academy's Holleder Center.
