ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's golf coach Kathy Teichert announced today (Monday, Nov. 14) the signing of Ashley Bauer (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS) and Andrea Ratigan (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino HS) to National Letters of Intent for the 2006-07 academic year.

Bauer, a 2005 MHSSA Super Team member, used her 2005 Michigan High School State individual medalist honor to help Grand Blanc High School win its second straight Michigan State Division I team championship. In her breakout 2005 season, she was a member of Grand Blanc's third-straight Regional and Big Nine championship teams as she won both events individually. She finished 2005 winning six total tournaments. She is a two-time All-Big Nine first team selection (2004, '05) and Big Nine All-Academic selection (2005) as well as the Grand Blanc's team captain (2005), team MVP (2005) and Most Improved Player Award (2004). Bauer will be looking to give Grand Blanc its third-straight team title when her senior season begins in March of 2006.
Ratigan, who has played at three different high schools in her career, won two Arizona State High School 4A individual medalist honors (2002, '03) while playing at Rincon/University High School and member of Arizona State High School State 4A championship team (2004) while playing at Catalina Foothills High School. In her career, she won four-straight regional team and medalist honors and is a three-time All State selection. She is a two-time Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Citizen Southern Arizona Player of the Year (2002, '03) and First Team City Girls' Golf selection (2002, '03, '04).
The Wolverines will lose three players from their 2005-06 roster as seniors Kelly Easton, Amy Schmucker and Brandi Zielinski will exhaust their eligibility.
