Next on the Tee: Closing out the Fall Season
After nearly 10 days away from the golf course, the University of Michigan women's golf team will head to Wilmington, N.C., Friday through Sunday (Oct. 28-30) for the Landfall Tradition. The 12-team field will play 54-holes at the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. The Nicklaus course ill be set up for a par 72 and 6,992 yards.
The Tournament Field
The 2005 Landfall Tradition features 12 teams and will include: Furman, Michigan, New Mexico, N.C. State, UNC Wilmington, Penn State, Purdue, South Florida, Tulane, Tulsa, Virginia and Wake Forest.
The Tournament Schedule
The 2005 Landfall Tradition will consist of 54 holes over the three days with 18 holes being played each day.

The Tournament Scoring Format
Scoring for the 2005 Landfall Tradition will be five players, count the low four scores each round.

The Michigan Lineup at the Tournament
The Wolverines will carry five players and one individual at the 2005 Landfall Tradition. Senior Amy Schmucker (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori HS) and junior Ali Stinson (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) will head up the squad. Junior Brianna Broderick (Richmond, Mo./Richmond HS), sophomore Isabelle Gendreau (St. Georges de Beauce, Quebec/Saint Andrew's School [Boca Raton, Fla.]) and freshman Lydia Bentez Coln (Dorado, Puerto Rico/Pendleton School [Bradenton, Fla.]) will round out the Wolverine squad.
Last Time Out: Schmucker Leads In Fourth Straight Tournament
The Wolverines finished 11th with a 941 54-hole total at the 2005 Tyson/Embassy Suites Invitational (Oct. 16-18) at the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark. The Maize and Blue opened with a 315 team total, followed with a 310 and closed out with a 316 final round for a 941 total. Amy Schmucker finished as the top Wolverine for the fourth straight tournament as she tied for 16th with a 227 total (78-77-72). Ali Stinson tied for 46th with a 236 total (80-77-79). Other Wolverine scores included: Brianna Broderick, tied for 54th with a 238 total (78-75-85), Kelly Easton tied for 59th with a 240 total (79-81-80) and Lindsay Davis was DQ'd for failing to sign her scorecard after turning it in. She had recorded back-to-back rounds of 81 before she was disqualified. Brandi Zielinski traveled as an individual and tied for 78th with a 249 total (80-87-82).
Schmucker Makes it Four Straight
For the seventh time in her career, Amy Schmucker has finished as the top Wolverine in tournament. In fact, she has led the Maize and Blue in all four tournaments in 2005-06. She has recorded four straight top 20 finishes with a season be medalist runner-up finish at the 2005 Wolverine Invitational (Oct. 1-2). She has now recorded at least one top finish for the Maize and Blue in each of her four years.
Schmucker Ties All-Time U-M Single Round Total
Amy Schmucker's first round four-under 68 at the Wolverine Invitational (Oct. 1-2) was not only a career-best by two strokes, it also tied the U-M record for the top all-time single round score. Her round tally ties Laura Olin (second round) and LeAnna Wicks' (first round) 68s tallied at the 2002 Hawkeye Invitational (April 13-14) and Kim Benedict's first round 68 at the 2001 Shootout at the Legends (Oct. 8-9). Schmucker's previous best round total was a two-under 70 in the final round of the 2005 Central District Classic (Feb. 21-22).

Davis Continues to Help With Depth
Lindsay Davis has become one of the bright spots for the Wolverines in 2005-06. She has remained consistent in her scoring as she as tallied tournament totals of 234 (Mary Fossum), 234 (Lady Northern) and 233 (Wolverine Invitational) this season. She was unfortunately DQ'd for turning in her scorecard before signing it at the Tyson/Embassy Suites Invitational. She has fired a career-best even-par 72 two times this season C second round (Mary Fossum) and first round (Lady Northern). With 11 rounds under her belt, she is third on the team with a 78.45 per round average.
Easton Coming on Strong in Senior Season
Kelly Easton has now started three events this season, which ties her career best mark of three starts during her freshman and sophomore years. In her three events this season she is averaging 80.55 strokes per round. She had a career-best-tying three-over 75 in the first round of the Wolverine Invitational (Oct. 1-2). She also had a three-over 75 in the second round of the 2004 Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 10-11). Both career best rounds have come on her home course C the U-M Golf Course. In addition to her single round best, she also set a new career-best for a 54-hole tournament as the tallied a 235 at the Wolverine Invitational.
Line-up Finding it's Regulars
Amy Schmucker, Ali Stinson, Lindsay Davis and Brianna Broderick have become the staples of the Wolverine starting line-up as each have played in all four tournaments this year. As a team the Wolverines are averaging 306.33 per round, as Schmucker is averaging a career-best 74.33 per round.
Hardware Adds to Michigan Legacy
With the 2005 Wolverine Invitational team title, Michigan has now won at least one tournament in each of the last three seasons. In fact, the Wolverines have won or finish as the runner-up in 25 of the last 72 total events. Michigan has now won 27 titles in team history. The team crystal also marks Michigan coach Kathy Teichert's 19th title in her 13 seasons with the Wolverines.
Longevity Key to Success and Depth
By playing in the 2005 Tyson/Embassy Suites Invitational, Amy Schmucker has played in 40 straight tournaments for the Maize and Blue, while Brianna Broderick and Ali Stinson have played in 28 straight tournaments for the Maize and Blue. Last season, former Wolverine Laura Olin set the U-M record playing in 50 consecutive tournaments.
