The Maize and Blue dominated play in last year's tournament, as the Wolverines swept all four flights of competition. Two of the three singles finals were all-Michigan affairs with Wolverine teammates competing against each other for the title. Current sophomore Elizabeth Exon (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge HS) jumped to an early lead against graduated senior Chrissie Nolan (2001-04) and never looked back, winning in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) to claim the title in the Blue flight. Sophomore Lindsey Goldstein (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park HS) went to three sets against senior Leanne Rutherford (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School), winning the title in the Wolverine singles flight by a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 advantage.
Sophomore Kara Delicata (LaSalle, Ontario/Sandwich Secondary) captured the third Michigan singles title in the Maize flight, dominating Western Michigan's Carrie Jeanmaire in the finals match to cruise to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Delicata also claimed the title in the Victors doubles flight along with graduated senior Kavitha Tipirneni (2001-04), defeating Nolan and Rutherford 9-7 in the championship final.
