Diaz-Luong Named Men's Gymnastics Assistant Coach

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics coach Kurt Golder announced today (Monday, Aug. 2) the hiring of former standout Wolverine gymnast Daniel Diaz-Luong as the team's second assistant coach. Diaz-Luong joins the coaching staff of Golder and Mike Burns two years after completing a very successful career with the Wolverines.
"Daniel brings a lot to our coaching staff here at Michigan," Golder said. "He has a dynamic personality, great technical knowledge of the sport, and a wealth of experience competing at both the national and international levels. He's really got everything we're looking for."
Diaz-Luong, who graduated in 2002, was a seven-time NCAA All-American, a two-time Big Ten champion (vault and high bar) and the 2002 NCAA high bar champion. He helped lead the Wolverine squad to its 1999 NCAA title as well as to Big Ten titles in 1999 and 2000.
He is a former U.S. National Team member and was a member of the 2001 World Championship Team and the 2001 Pan-American Games Team. He was also the U.S. national champion on the high bar in 2001.
