U-M Among 12 Teams Invited to NCAA Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team has been selected for a berth to the 2004 NCAA Championships to be held at the University of Illinois' Assembly Hall on April 2-4. The Wolverines will compete in the first of two national qualifying sessions on Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. CST.
The nation's top 12 teams are invited to the national qualifying sessions, along with the top 12 all-around competitors not on those teams and the top 12 specialists on each event also not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor. The 12 teams have been seeded into two six-team sessions, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. CST, for Friday's competition. Michigan is seeded seventh.
The team selections for the qualifying competition, with qualifying scores:

The top three teams from each session will advance to the team finals (session 3) on Saturday (April 3) at 7 p.m. CST along with the top three all-around competitors not on a qualified team and the top three specialists on each event also not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor. The individual event finals (session 4) will be held on Sunday (April 4) at 2 p.m. CDT.

All Session Pass: $32 - General Admission Adult, $20 - General Admission Students
Sessions I and II: $8 - General Admission Adult, $5 - General Admission Students
Sessions III and IV: $10 - General Admission Adult, $7 - General Admission Students
The Wolverines look to continue their string of top NCAA Championships finishes, having finished in the top four in each of the last five years. Michigan won the team title in 1999, was runner-up in 2000 and placed fourth in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
