ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletics Department announced today (Wednesday, Dec. 1) that after a temporary leave of absence women's basketball assistant coach Janine Moore has decided to resign her position. Moore was in her second season on the Michigan staff after arriving from Indiana in the spring of 2003 to be part of head coach Cheryl Burnett's first staff at Michigan.
"I would like to sincerely thank Cheryl for the opportunity to be a part of her staff at Michigan," stated Moore. "At this time, there are some health issues I am dealing with which require my full attention. I have enjoyed my time at Michigan and appreciate the support provided by the staff and administration."
A 1999 graduate of Evansville, Moore spent one season as an assistant at Loyola (Ill.) (1999-2000) and three more seasons on the staff at Indiana (2000-03) before arriving in Ann Arbor.
"Janine has been a valued member of our staff since she arrived at Michigan and we will continue to offer our support and wish her the best," said Burnett.
Women's basketball director of operations Jim Pendergrass will assume several of Moore's responsibilities along with the rest of the Michigan staff.
